Exploring Bali

I just came back from my trip to Bali with my friends and it was great! Bali is a dream destination of many people, including me. I mean, the island is full of white beaches, big waves to surf on, ancient culture, endless rice terraces, lush greenery, cool markets, friendly locals and good food and who doesn't love that? Here are some snaps of my to paradise!

Our hotel was literally next to the Sacred Monkey Forest. So that was out first destination! Before we walked into the gates of the forest some monkeys already stole my friend's sandwich, so watch out if you bring food haha! The monkeys are really cute, but very naughty!

After the Monkey Forest we went to the Ubud Traditional Art Market, which has a lot of cool souvenirs. And if you want to have some very cool Instagram worthy coconut bowls and some wooden tablespoon, this is the place to buy them! Later we went to the Kanto Lampo Waterfall where I was too scared to take a picture, because I know me and if I would try to get my phone out I would drop it in the water, haha!

For dinner we went to a restaurant on the beach in Jimbaran. The food was pretty good, but I have to say, it was quite expensive. There was also a group playing music at every table in whatever language you wanted them to sing in! Indonesian locals are so friendly and really really cool and chill people!

The second day we had a lot of activities planned, but we last minute decided that we were going to do some water sports instead. But the next day we walked a lot! First went to the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, but it was raining so much so we didn't stay there for a long time. It's really beautiful and peaceful, so I highly recommend paying it a visit!

After visiting the rice field it stopped raining, so we went to our next destination: the Sekumpul and Fiji Waterfalls. I love waterfalls, they are just so pretty and the sounds are very calming to me. The two waterfalls are very close to one but the path to get to the waterfalls is just a bit steep and definitely a great butt workout because of the many many stairs. But the scenery is mesmerizing so you will quickly forget that you have to walk that much.

We quickly went back to the car because it started to rain, AGAIN! And had some food before going to the Danu Bratan Temple. We really wanted to take a look there because it's on the rupiah bill, but it was still raining and quite foggy. And as you can see, we couldn't really see much of it, haha.. For dinner we had crab at The Holy Crab in Seminyak and it was really freaking good! You eat the crab with your hands and the crab is covered in this amazing sauce which is a bit spicy and so flavorful! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

It was my last day (I had to go back earlier for uni) and you cannot go to Bali and not visit some beaches right? So this day was dedicated to visit some beaches and chill. Even though it was a bit cloudy sometimes it was really beautiful. We had lunch at Single Fin which is a very chill bar/restaurant with a great view over the beach. The waves were really high and there were quite a lot of surfers there as well. Really cool!

After the lunch we went to Padang Padang Beach! This beach is a very populair surfspot and it's where some scenes of the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" where shot! When you entire the beach you will be greeted by some really cute monkeys! The path down to the beach is really small and steep but when you arrive, a beautiful yellow sandy beach and a refreshing blue shimmering sea is waiting for you!

Then we went to the Uluwatu Temple to get a glimpse of the amazing view of the beach and cliffs. And it started to rain again, but as you can see it's still so beautiful! To me, the temple was not super interesting and it's a bit crowded but I still recommend going there to get this amazing view.

And that wraps up my short but sweet trip to Bali! It were some great days in paradise and I wished I could stay longer with these amazing people, but maybe that means we should go there again in the future! Really happy I met these guys in China and I will never forget this trip!

    1. Zuid-Oost Azië is zeker weten veel goedkoper dan Europa, maar omdat Bali echt een toeristenplaats is, is het ietsje duurder. Maar nog steeds echt goedkoop haha
